So now, Let’s get into it.

When Should You Wash Your Hands?

Here are the times that it becomes absolutely necessary for you to wash your hands during the day:

  1. Before and after eating.
  2. After using the toilet. This helps avoid the spread of bacteria that can easily lead to a gastrointestinal infection.
  3. Before and after attending to a sick person, most importantly in this COVID-19 pandemic period. It is advised to always take good measures when caring for the sick.
  4. Before and after attending to an injury.
  5. After blowing your nose, coughing or sneezing.
  6. After playing with your pets or caring for them.
  7. Before and after changing diapers.

Just by taking 40 to 60 seconds of your day to wash your hands after attending to any of the activities listed above (and those not mentioned), you can help reduce the spread of infections and live a healthy life.

How To Correctly Wash Your Hands

It is advised to always wash your hands with a soap, preferable an antibacterial soap, because using only water is as good as not washing your hands at all. Also, you can make use of an antibacterial gel that has at least 70% of alcohol when a soap is not available. But remember, whether you use a liquid or solid soap, the best results come out when you wash your hands for a minimum of 40 seconds. So don’t rush it.

In this difficult time of Covid-19, it is very important you take simple things like washing your hands very seriously because it can save your life. We advice that you make hand-washing a habit as it has been proven by research to be very effective in preventing infections such as diarrhea, which can lead to death if not well managed.
