Staying Healthy

Health has been directly linked to your ability to enjoy life and fulfill set goals in life. The healthy can live life to the full and maximize every potential they have or opportunity that comes their way.

Being healthy goes beyond “not having any illness.” Good health comprises of the various aspects of total well-being including the physical, mental, social, emotional and even the spiritual and financial. In 1948, the World Health Organization, WHO, defined health as “the state of complete physical, mental and social well-being of an individual and not just the absence of disease or infirmity.”

Health has been viewed as a resource or asset in life worthy of investment,  which explains why so much emphasis and priority has been given to healthcare at personal, community, national and international levels. A good health depends on a wide range of factors that include: genetics, environmental factors, access to healthcare facilities, a person’s socio-economic status and a person’s lifestyle choices.

Maintaining a good health means doing what you can to preserve health rather than waiting to get sick before trying to fix things. Maintaining your health is a life long activity and will require daily commitment, and taking steps that will help you reduce the risk of diseases and maximize your total well-being.

Whiles it may not be completely possible to prevent all the forms of diseases that exist, you can take steps to ensure that you explore every treatment options available, maintain a healthy nutrition, engage in healthy exercises, make healthy lifestyle choices, manage stress properly and go for routine screening and medical examinations.
